There is much human suffering, deprivation and suffering in this supposed world of plenty - much more than most of us realise or concern ourselves about. You may have seen the television commercial informing us that one in eight East Timorese children die before reaching five years of age. Young girls are enslaved in fetish shrines in Ghana for alleged crimes committed by family members, sometimes generations removed. Families in Colombo, Manila and Surabaya live in appalling slum conditions; they have no hope of a decent life and no voice to make their plight known to those who can help.

International Needs has been providing care and support through sustainable development projects, emergency relief appeals and child sponsorship for more than thirty-five years. Lives are enriched, people are given real hope for and a belief in their future. They are empowered to live and work as proud and productive people in their communities, making a real contribution to their local economies while developing self-sufficiency through sustainable employment and income.

With so much abject poverty and desperate need in today's world, the answer should be clear. Note: To qualify for tax deductibility, gifts must be unconditional. International Needs undertakes to allocate gifts according to donor wishes, or if not possible, to a similar approved project. In the event of a project being over-subscribed, excess funds will be used for a similar type of program and the donor advised accordingly. Administration costs are deducted prior to disbursement.
